Transcribed from Mr. G. Herman Guy's Cemeteries in Chautauqua County, Kansas

The Aiken cemetery also known as Burton is located in Washington Township in the northwest corner of S16 - T33s - R13N, right in the corner of the pasture owned by Dessie Aiken. The coordinates are 37.1797855N and -095.9824858W, which places it at the intersection of the Independence Road and County Road #31. It is an old neglected small cemetery on the south side of Road #31, no longer fenced with only one stone remaining to mark a burial. In it is found two or three field stones but only one can be partially read. Just across the road east and a little south is the Lone Cherry Church. Mr. Guy found the following inscription in the mid 1980s, but the words are no longer legible.

                                                           only the two initials

Family members of Samantha have related that Samantha died giving birth to her sixth
child who also died and is buried here. Also Samantha's daughter and child are buried
here plus other relatives.
