KENNETH C. JOBE - Submitted by Freida Wells
The Sedan Times-Star Kenneth Charles Jobe, the only child of Charles E. and Mabelle A. Jobe, was born March 27th, 1911 and died July 26th, 1918, aged 7 years, 3 months and 29 days, after an illness of three weeks. His young life was spent on the farm where he was born. He was of a lovable disposition, and unusually intelligent child and a general favorite in the community. Through all his sickness, he never complained and his bright mind was clear to the end, when he quietly went to sleep, clasping the loving hands that had so tenderly cared and guided him in the effort to make the short journey through life one of joy and sunshine. His death has caused universal sorrow in the community and untold grief to a large number of sorrowing relatives.
Such a little break in the sod, - So tiny to be a grave! - Oh, how can we render so soon to God - The beautiful gift he gave? - Must we put you away, our pet, - Our tender bud, unblown - With the dew of the morning upon you yet, - And your blossom all unshown? - Our hearts are near to break - For the voice we shall not hear - For the clinging arms around our neck - And the footsteps drawing near. - And this is the end of it all! - Of our waiting and our pain. - Only a little funeral pall, - And empty arms again. - Oh, Baby! Our hearts are sore - For the live that was to be, - For the untried dream of love, now o’er - ‘Twixt thee, our child and we. - ‘Tis a weary world at best - This world that he will not know, - Would we waken him out of such a perfect rest, - For its sorrow and strife? Ah, no! - Escaped are its thorns and harms; - The only path he has trod - Is that which leads from the mother’s arms - Into the arms of God.
